Citizens to Preserve ND Property Rights

This citizens' group asked Odney to assist them in defeating an initiated ballot measure calling for a ban on high-fence hunting on privately held land. Through market research we identified two effective positions on this issue: property rights, and the economic and sporting benefits of high-fence hunting. Based on our research, we developed and implemented a strategy that used a combination of grassroots activity, paid advertising, a coalition of organizations with an interest in the issue, lobbying and public relations/earned media to educate the public about this issue and motivate them to defeat the measure.

Rather than waiting for the issue to arise and then responding to criticism, we took a proactive approach to present our case regularly and consistently to the media. Our efforts in creating awareness and support for this issue resulted in the opposition's failure to obtain enough valid signatures for the measure to appear on the ballot.
